Get to Know Doru Pilates

Meet the team behind one of Monmouth County’s fastest-growing Pilates studios

The Story Behind Doru

Doru is named after Lauren’s grandfather. In Romanian, “doru” means gold. It is a name that carries weight, warmth, and meaning, and that is exactly the kind of studio Lauren set out to build.

The vision was simple but specific: bring the standard of New York City boutique Pilates to the Jersey Shore. Not a watered-down version. Not a large-format class with 20 reformers and an instructor who cannot see you. A real studio, with real instructors, capped at 8 clients per class, where everyone who walks through the door is known by name.

Doru opened its doors at 1193 Lincoln Square in Elberon, NJ – a quaint hamlet in the heart of the Jersey Shore, surrounded by vibrant downtowns and small cities such as Long Branch, Asbury Park and Red Bank. The studio was built to feel like a destination, not just a gym. Every detail, from the equipment to the class format to the cleanliness of the space, reflects the belief that you deserve better than average.

Lauren Ginsberg

Lauren did not start Pilates because she was looking for a hobby. She started because she was a competitive soccer player with an ankle injury and needed something that would let her keep moving without making things worse. That first experience on a reformer changed everything.

She trained in New York City at some of the most respected studios in the country, including a prominent West Village studio, and built her career around one standard: do the work correctly, or do not do it at all. Lauren has guided clients ranging from age 10 to 95, working with athletes, beginners, prenatal and postnatal clients, seniors, and people recovering from injury. She brings the rigor of New York City training and the warmth of a community-driven studio to every single session.

Pilates is not a side project for Lauren. It is the thing she has dedicated her professional life to, and that commitment shows up in the quality of what happens inside Doru every day.
